Introduction

👋 Hello! I’m Christian LeFlore. I am an IT Professional with over 10 years of IT experience. My strongest skills are in System Administration, Cloud, DevOps, and Linux. If you’d like to read more about projects I’ve found interesting, navigate to my IT Blog.

Work Experience

I am currently a Senior IT Systems Administrator for the University of Oklahoma. I build out and maintain Linux based servers for IT professionals. My role involves a lot of ansible, scripting, troubleshooting, and ticket-based work. Each day is different!

I was at WhoFi before OU as their IT Systems Administrator. WhoFi is a tech driven company that provides WiFi analytics/SaaS planning tools to libraries, parks, and museums. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of designing infrastructure, configuring servers, spinning up cloud-based instances, troubleshooting networking equipment, and helping our business customers with their complex and unique networking problems. It was a good fit for me because I love a challenge and have a passion for libraries and community spaces. I worked on a lot of fun projects that propelled WhoFi further. I felt like I really watched a company grow and thrive.

Before WhoFi, I worked for the Metropolitan Library System for 7 and a half years. It was an amazing experience supporting and serving the 500+ employees of that system. I learned the ins and outs of libraries along with the ins and outs of IT. My day consisted of answering support calls/emails, submitting tickets, traveling to the 19 locations in Oklahoma County, troubleshooting and repairing IT equipment.

Education

Currently, I hold a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology from WGU, a Certificate of Mastery in Systems Support from OCCC, and a Business Associates degree from OCCC. I am CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Project+, and Linux+ certified. I am an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and have my Azure AZ-900 certification.

Hobbies

But, that’s all work related. I believe that a strong work/life balance and seperation are keys to productivity. My biggest hobby right now is hiking. I love getting out on hiking trails to enjoy the peace and quiet. There’s always a new park to explore, always a new trail to uncover. Beyond that, I always am learning about something new. I collect and restore retro gaming tech and build electronics at home. My 3D printer keeps me busy too. For downtime, I don’t mind settling down with a good game, book, or movie. I’m a huge fan of the sci-fi genre.

Volunteer Work

I love to help the community. I was the Volunteer Director for a homeless outreach ministry called Boxosox. Boxosox ran from 2008 to 2015. We would reach out to unhoused people and build relationships with them. We believed meeting people on a one-on-one basis was important. We built relationships by handing out clothing, food, and most of all, socks. We discovered that socks were a highly in-demand and overlooked item (hence the name, boxosox.)

I’m not actively volunteering but do give a percentage of my income to organizations/projects that have a net-positive for my community. This includes food banks, open source projects, homeless shelters, and more. Everyone has a right to food, clean water, shelter, and safety and no one should go hungry.

I hope this gives you a better idea of who I am as a person. I’d love to connect, so don’t be a stranger. Use the links at the bottom of the page to find my Gitlab, Mastodon, LinkedIn or Credly.
